George Bangs is an artist and graphic designer. He was natured into being in 1995, and was subsequently nurtured into his current self by good friends and family. Sometimes he wonders, “can I really be a good artist if I’ve never experienced substantial emotional trauma?”
He sees that society is shaped by design. Either by physical spaces, or more nuanced visual and digital environments. These designs have the power to change how we interact with the world around us. As designers, it's important to consciously improve society by designing considerately and ethically. Back in the 1800s, William Morris said “everything should be useful, beautiful, or both.” And that sentiment is still extremely relevant today. Well crafted things improve lives and should be available to everyone, that includes design.
